Succession of ownership
A succession of ownership raises a number of important questions – when and how should children receive their parents’ assets? To what extent should this take place, and how should the heirs be allowed to use the funds?
At Advice, we provide both strategic tax support and practical assistance, combined with specialist expertise in family law. This ensures that the transfer is carried out properly – for both you and the next generation.
We have guided many families through discussions on succession of ownership – whether it concerns family-owned businesses, other limited companies, or forestry and agricultural properties being transferred to the younger generation. Issues of fairness are often central, such as how one or more siblings should be bought out in a fair and balanced way.
For example, we work in partnership with the ICA Association, supporting retailers in carrying out their succession of ownership. In such cases, we take on both project management of the succession process and responsibility for the tax aspects.
